I DON'T KNOW / QUESTION / 06 SEPTEMBER 2026
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU ACTUALLY LIKE SOMETHING?
I keep trying to separate recognition from desire. Sometimes I like the thing. Sometimes I like the person I imagine I become near the thing. A room can be beautiful and still not be a room I want to live in. I trust liking more when it survives inconvenience: the difficult page, the awkward chair, the object that is better in use than in a photograph.
